to Alison's Acquisitions website.
Established in 1982, Alison's Acquisitions Ltd displays the
largest and best collections of artificial flowers in New
Zealand to the trade.
Alison turns to nature and her interior design background
to create, inspire and source the unique collection that is
Alison's Acquisitions.
Every individual flower must not only be beautiful in its
detail and colour but must pass the question, "Would
we acquire it for our own home?". Hence the name Alison's
Acquisitions.
In the beginning
We imported glass vases from Turkey when it was difficult
to find large scale glass containers. Two years later in Paris
I fell in love with some artificial peonies and purchased
them thinking they would look great in our glass vases on
our trade fair stand.
To our surprise, the retailers also wanted the flowers. "I'm
not really into artificials but these are different"
was the repetitive comment.
Six weeks later, I was back in France to attend artificial
flower arranging classes (in French!) to enable us to import
these decorative florals.
From this time
The challenge has been to find the world's best manufacturers
to create the flowers that replicate the colours of a New
Zealand garden.

Today - Exclusive Florals
Participating in the process of flower creation is Alison's
passion. Her passion for colour and design of flowers is just
as strong today as it was in the beginning.
"It's exhilarating to be involved in the creation of
unique flower colours. I believe the best artificial flowers
to be handmade works of art. Perhaps we should describe them
as 'art flowers' or 'art-ificials'. Designed not to replace
real flowers but to be decorative accessories to add colour
and life to any interior."
